Gold plating's antibacterial efficacy is verified by test values shown in the accompanying table, conducted by the Niigata Prefecture Environmental Sanitation Research Institute (a general incorporated foundation and inspection agency under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare). Tests were conducted in compliance with JIS Z 2801:2010 (Antibacterial Processed Products – Antibacterial Test Methods and Efficacy).

Antibacterial efficacy test for gold-plated stainless steel

Test specimen (standard size: 50mm × 50mm flat plate, alcohol-sterilized and air-dried)

with 0.4mL bacterial suspension applied, then covered with protective film (standard 40mm × 40mm)

in contact, stored at 35±1°C and ≥90% relative humidity for 24 hours, then viable cell count measured.

Antibacterial test results are shown in Table 1 and Table 2.
